Soap film physics

July 1, 2024

Soap film showing interference colors in a bilayer. Movie was recorded to showcase various physical phenomena taking place within a soap's thin film, including but not limited to thin-film interference, fluid dynamics, lipid bilayers, surface tension, and the Marangoni effect. Shifts in color relate to changes in thickness. Reflected light microscopy. Video by Karl Gaff, Art of Science Photography, Dublin, Ireland
