What You'll Learn
Laser Ablation Laser Ionization (LALI) with Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (TOF-MS)
This two-part webinar offers an in-depth look at Exum's Massbox, the first instrument to deliver Laser Ablation Laser Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (LALI-TOF-MS).
Among the suite of instruments used for microscopy and microanalysis, there are a few common challenges, including: 1) accurately measuring low-mass elements, 2) depth profiling beyond one micron, and 3) reliably detecting elements below parts-per-million (ppm) levels. Addressing the limitations of traditional techniques, a new technology combines Laser Ablation Laser Ionization (LALI) with Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (TOF-MS). In this webinar, you will learn about LALI-TOF-MS and explore case studies demonstrating how it complements existing microscopy tools.
Part A: Technical Presentation
The first session involves a live presentation to guide you through:
- The fundamentals of LALI-TOF-MS
- How LALI-TOF-MS fills existing gaps in materials characterization by providing trace-level
detection from lithium to uranium, quantitative elemental mapping, and depth profiling
- An understanding of the technology’s use cases
- A live Q&A session to address questions about your specific materials
Part B: Demonstration
The second session includes a demo of the Massbox, the first instrument to deliver LALI-TOF-MS. In this session, we will cover:
- A brief overview of LALI-TOF-MS
- The step-by-step process of loading solid samples, setting up analyses, and gathering impactful results
- Powerful examples of the Massbox’s ability to perform:
o Rapid screening
o Quantitative analysis
o Elemental mapping
o Depth profiling
- A live Q&A session to address questions about your specific materials
