Proposal for a merger of
The Microbeam Analysis Society and The Microscopy Society of America.
The closing date for this Survey of the Membership was Oct. 31, 2004

The Microbeam Analysis Society and the Microscopy Society of America have been engaged in discussions with regard to the possibility of realizing a merger of the two societies.

This web site represents the next stage of this process. We would like you to get involved by reading a report on where we are, posting comments giving your views and - please - fill out the brief questionnaire.

The Report was presented to the Councils of the two societies during their Summer Council meetings held in Savannah during MM2004 meeting.

Read Member Comments permits you to view comments posted by members of the two societies.

Add your Comment/Opinion allows you to post your own thoughts to the comments page. Members of the Committee will read the comments from time to time and post answers if appropriate.Comment Page was close on Nov 1, 2004

Participate in the Survey is an on-line form where you are invited to respond to a questionnaire. Survey Page was close on Nov 1, 2004

The idea is this. If the merger of the two societies is to go ahead, detailed plans for the organization of the merger and the structure of the joint society must be made. We would like those plans to reflect, as closely as possible, the views of the membership of the two societies. The more people who reply to the survey, the better we will be able to do this.

Nov. 1, 2004: The Merger Committee is analyzing the results and will be preparing a report for the respective society councils and the membership.

The Merger Committee:

William T. Gunning
Janet H. Woodward
John Small
Paul K. Carpenter
Inga Holl Musselman
James J. McGee Jr.
John M. Mackenzie
Sara E. Miller
Gracie Burke
Alwyn Eades (Chair)
